Positive: I love the George Hotel, full of character with fabulous staff. Great atmosphere in the bars, and restaurant, and wonderful food! Our room was nice and bed very comfortable with quality bedding
Negative: Some areas are a little tired and could do with a bit of a facelift. Slightly inconvenient placing of plug points for drying hair ..I had to swap a mirror and picture on the wall. Also radiator control difficult to reach to adjust temperature.
Summary: Great overnight stay!

Positive: How the old character of the hotel has been kept authentic whilst the interior has been updated . Comfortable, warm, welcoming reception and breakfast staff. Our upgraded room was outstanding, huge with beautiful furnishings, an open fire and an equally huge ensuite. Loved it. The exposed stone walls and open fires in the public rooms gives the hotel a cosy and comfortable atmosphere.
Negative: Evening bar and restaurant staff not as friendly as reception and breakfast staff.
Summary: Stay here if you want an authentic old Scottish atmosphere and welcome

Positive: The bathroom in our room was good and very spacious. Some of the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The surrounding area was stunning. The food in the evening was very good especially the chicken. Good drink choices at the bar.
Negative: The conservatory/breakfast area is tired and poorly equipped. Breakfast lacked any organisation, it was 10 minutes before any staff knew we were there, 20 minutes before we got a drink, other couples who came in after us had finished before we had even had our order taken. In the end I had to ask for someone to take our order (it wasn’t that busy). When we finally got our scrambled egg it wasn’t very warm. The next day we went elsewhere for breakfast despite having pre paid for it at the hotel. We were looking forward to using the garden bar area as we had on our previous visit but it was closed. This was very disappointing. We are aware that new owners have taken over the George and look forward to seeing the much needed changes.

Positive: Nothing stands out.
Negative: There were stains on the rugs and upholstery. The bathtub was directly in front of a window with only a sheer curtain. There was no privacy. The tub was difficult to get in and out of.
Summary: I wouldn’t stay here again.

Positive: Beautiful property with real character. Staff are outstanding and we enjoyed the food and drink enormously. Great coffee with breakfast which is not always the case in hotels. A wee gem!
